Marcin Wichorowski

Marcin Wichorowski currently serves as the CIO at the Institute of Oceanology, Polish Academy of Sciences, and represents Poland in the UNESCO/IOC-IODE. As an expert in oceanographic data, he contributes to the international ocean data community through his engagement in initiatives such as the ICES, BOOS, and the Svalbard Integrated Arctic Earth Observing System (SIOS).

He has organized international scientific conferences, including the first UNESCO Ocean Data Conference, an event of the UN Ocean Decade. He facilitates workshops and thematic sessions focused on ocean data management and the curation of open-access data.

With expertise in data engineering and project management, he leads projects in the field of oceanographic data, particularly in the development of ocean data and information systems. He is the leader of the Oceanographic Data and Information System for Polish Scientific Organizations, contributing to the advancement of data interoperability, accessibility, and integration within the scientific community.
