Medical University of Gdańsk (MUG) is a modern academic centre recognisable on a international scale. It has been providing high quality education in all medical professions and conducting world-class scientific research. MUG has been acknowledged as the member of an elite group of the best 10 Polish universities awarded in the prestigious „Excellence Initiative – Research University” competition. Thanks to the funds from the programme, the Excellence of Scientific Publications Unit was established. It provides support for scientists publishing in open access, proving at the same time that high quality of publications and openness go hand-in-hand. MUG co-creates the largest open repository of medical publications and research data in Poland – the Polish Platform of Medical Research. The university periodical European Journal of Translational and Clinical Medicine is published in the diamond open access model, so it does not charge fees from either authors or readers. Open Science Team at the Main Library supports researchers in openly sharing their research results and endeavours to meet international standards by participation in European projects (e.g. FAIR-Impact, Skills4EOSC).
