The University of Silesia, a pioneer in promoting the concept of open science in Poland, has launched the country’s largest program, IDB “Data Steward – Research Data Management”. This initiative aims not only to introduce modern methods of managing and protecting research data but also to train specialists – domain-specific Data Stewards. The program, responding to global trends of open access to knowledge and transparency in research, has equipped 16 participants with the necessary skills for effective data management, while simultaneously promoting open knowledge exchange and collaboration among scientists. The success of this endeavor, evidenced by the group of trained experts forming the Data Steward community at the University of Silesia, underscores its role as a leader in developing open science and modern management of scientific information in Poland.
