European Commission announces results of the EOSC Public Procurement

On November 28, 2023, the European Commission’s DG Connect announced the winners of the public procurement tender “Managed Services for the European Open Science Cloud Platform (EOSC).” The procurement aims to establish “the EOSC EU Node”, a fully operational infrastructure offering access to FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data and services across various domains from data handling to computing, processing, analysis and storing.

Notably, two Polish entities were among the winners. The Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Centre (PSNC) is the winner of lots 2 and 3, focusing on Exchange Infrastructure Services for the EOSC EU Node and Exchange Application Services for the EOSC EU Node, respectively. Meanwhile, the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling (ICM) at the University of Warsaw is one of the providers of basic infrastructure in the Open Science Agora consortium (led by the Athena Research Center from Greece), which won lot 1 – Core Federation Services for the EOSC EU Node. The tasks performed by these entities will contribute significantly to the development of the EOSC in the near future, providing seamless access to FAIR data and high quality professional services across various scientific domains.

The operational services of the EOSC EU Node are expected to be to launch gradually from January to July 2024, following a joint kick-off meeting between the European Commission and the awarded contractors.
